The National Monument to the Forefathers honors the Mayflower Pilgrims. It was formerly known as the Pilgrim Monument. Dedicated in 1889, the Monument celebrates the principles, morals and ethics of the Pilgrims. It features symbolic statures of the Pilgrims, known in Plymouth as the Forefathers, as they arrived in Massachusetts in 1620. It is the third tallest statue in the US and is the world's largest solid granite monument.
