Oak Grove Cemetery was established in 1855 largely based on the plans and rural garden style of the Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge, MA. In 1983, the 100-acre cemetery was added to the National Register of Historic Places, and today is owned and operated by the City of Fall River. The cemetary's most notable feature is an historical Gothic Revival entrance arch made of locally quarried Fall River granite.

The cemetery is the final resting place of many of the city's elite, including prominent mill owners, politicians and merchants including the Borden family. It is also home to the city's Civil War Monument.
