Gertrude M Boyden Wildlife Refuge was established in 1968 when the City of Taunton's Conservation Commission purchased the Laura Thomas Estate in the Westville neighborhood of Taunton. It is a natural learning environment with over 50 acres of plants, waterways, open fields, picnic areas, fishing stations and nearly 2 miles of walking trails highlighted by a new wetlands boardwalk and covered bridge. The refuge is the headquarters for the Conservation Commission.
