The
Back Eddy restaurant in Westport, MA offers spectacular views of Westport Harbor, especially at sunset.
The SouthCoast is fortunate to be in the 'hub' of the fresh fish market. Most local restaurants take advantage of having the opportunity to purchase fresh fish from local fish houses or even right off the fishing boats. Fresh fish and raw bar special are a staple at places like The Back Eddy in Westport, Waterfront Grille in New Bedford and Shells and Scales in Newport.
Some restaurants are fortunate to be on the waterfront and overlook places such as the fishing boats in New Bedford or Bristol, a river or even offer an ocean view.
The Portuguese community takes pride in the Southcoast. They are a big part of the authentic restaurants such as TAs in Fall River and Antonio's in New Bedford. Their ingredients are fresh, recipes are genuine old school and the Portuguese culture can be seen in the restaurant decor, staff and service.
Other restaurants specialize in sushi, offering what some may call the freshest in the country. Still other dining establishments offer new American dining; collecting the freshest, local ingredients and preparing a daily menu while supporting local farmers and growers. The SouthCoast is fortunate to be home to many great restaurants, most long-standing, locally owned-and-operated establishments.
