Pawtucket is the 4th largest city in Rhode Island with a population of over 72,000 residents. It is located in the northern part of the state and is 9 square miles. During the American Industrial Revolution, Pawtucket was a major contributor to the cotton textile industry.

Pawtucket is home to Slater Memorial Park, the oldest and largest park in Rhode Island. It has full recreational facilities including tennis courts and a picnic area. Daggett Farm and Daggett House are located in Slater Park, the oldest farm and house in Pawtucket. Built in 1865, the house was turned into a museum in 1905 and remains a museum open to the public. Slater Memorial Park was added to the National Register of Historic places in 1976 and is home to Loof Carousel. Marconi garden is a beautiful garden at the entrance to Slater Park and is a popular place for wedding photos.

Professional baseball in Pawtucket dates back to 1892 when the Pawtucket Indians called this city in Rhode Island home. McCoy stadium in Pawtucket is now home to the Pawtucket Red Sox, the AAA affiliate minor league team of the Boston Red Sox. The longest professional baseball game his history was played at McCoy Stadium in 1981 and lasted 33 innings.

Pawtucket is becoming known as a regional center for arts and culture. Each September, the city, in conjunction with member of the Pawtucket Arts Collaborative, produces an annual arts festival. The city also hosts Riversing, an independently produced day long music event. The Water Color Gallery, located in Pawtucket, allows artist members and the general public to view, purchase, exhibit and learn about water media art.

Sam Patch, the Famous Jumper by Paul E. Johnson: Sam Patch grew up in Pawtucket in the 1820's as a mill hand in the textile industry. He made a name for himself when he jumped 70' into the tumultuous waters below Pawtucket Falls. In 1827 he repeated the same stunt in Patterson, N.J. and again in front of an even larger crowd in 1829 at Niagara Falls. The daredevil from Pawtucket had earned himself the nickname of the 'Jersey Jumper'.
