The Richard Sparrow House is the oldest surviving house in Plymouth. Richard Sparrow, his wife and son left their home in England and arrived in Plymouth in 1636. Built in 1640, Sparrow used cross beam construction to build the 2 story house. There were large rooms, leaded glass windows and paneled walls. It was on Town Brook and considered an impressive home at the time. The house now operates as a museum and art gallery.
