Dedicated to preserving the Greek Revival mansion built in 1834 for the whaling merchant William Rotch Jr. and its historic grounds and gardens, The Rotch-Jones-Duff House & Museum also aims to educate the public through exhibits and programs.
Located on a full city block of formal gardens, the Mansion is a terrific example of what Melville described as 'brave houses and flowery gardens' in his classic
Moby-Dick.
The Museum offers both rotating and permanent exhibits, lectures and other special events, as well as self-guided audio tours.
