Zeiterion Theatre

Zeiterion Theatre
The Z Performing Arts Center opened in 1920 and continues to operate as a cultural force in the region serving the public nearly 40 world-class performances per year.
The Zeiterion Theater originally opened under the name The State Theater in April of 1923. Its initial use was as a Vaudeville Theater, but later changed to a silent film theater; the Wurlitzer Theater Organ is still present from the silent film era.
The venue experienced many rough patches throughout the years and has a rich history. Today, the Z breathes life and culture, national and international, into New Bedford with numerous world class performances each year.
